Mostly leaders are born
At times leaders are created
When a person becomes a leader
He should be alert
He should be proactive
He should have a vision
He should create confidence in his followers
He should be able to decide on his own (He can consult any number of persons but the final decesion should be his)
He should have knowledge (if not- he should be able to collect information from all sources and should be able to grasp - digest - arrive at conclusions independently)
He should be flexible and at the same time firm depending on the situation
He should be able to say no when required - firmly
He should be conscious that he is responsible for the welfare of all his followers
He should develop true and able lieutenants to assist him
He should develop his successor in his own life time
I think this would do for the time being
People in general are always in search of leaders and simply follow the leaders like herds - it is easy for them to be so and to do so
As the quote is - successful people think and do things differently
ReplyDeleteStrategy is to intervene at the right time in the right way
Remember the beaten path but try new paths for progress
First study the individual
ReplyDeleteRate him whether he is mature enough to understand accept and benefit from the reinforcement
Decide the reinforcement to be provided whether it is recognition, rewards monetary or emotional support etc
Be a loving task master strict at the same time with understanding
Make him see and accept realities
Then the reinforcement you provide will change him for the better and he will be benefitted along with the organisation
Many are born with inborn maturity
ReplyDeleteAt times you see even some children behaving like matured adults
Generally you can develop people in varying degrees to become more mature by training, mentoring, coaching, motivating, counselling, guidance etc
But there is a limitation to every individual
And there are some who will never get any maturity however you may try
By making an assessment you can put in your efforts to the required level to help them attain maturity
Leaders & Innovators
ReplyDeleteThey do not work
They only pursue their passion
It is the only thing that satisfies them and makes them happy
Why people are philanthropists and do social service?
Otherwise they will become mad
They will have to be so and do so
It is a passion for them
And those who do it for fashion and publicity suffer privately and do not enjoy doing it actually
In my own case I was found to be fresher than I was in the morning before I started my daily work
Every evening after I go through a toiling day I feel more energetic and happier with a beeming face with the satisfaction of having done a day's work and that too well
It always made my subordinates wonder how I can be so
It is so because I was very much interested in my work and enjoyed doing that
